SmartTouch explores the use of touch-based user interaction to demonstrate new and innovative mobile services.
SmartTouch has been funded under the European ITEA research program for the period of 2006 to 2008.
SmartTouch communication is based on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and the NFC short range wireless connectivity interface and protocol. An NFC tag contains information (e.g. a phone number or URL) that can be used for initiating action, for example, in a mobile phone.
Near Field Communication (NFC) technology enables touch-based interaction with a mobile phone and our physical environment. Touch-based interaction creates opportunities for new, user-friendly applications, transactions and communications. Momentum is building as touch-based trials and solutions multiply around the world.
