Re: Fatal Error in function InSuperCell

It's the "old" error actually. ;) This happens in 2.1.32 but not in 2.1.31 I have moved on to a different way to create cross section universes. The new way is not as easy but does seem to work. Creating geometry... ***** Thu Apr 29 07:41:48 2021: - MPI task = 0 - OpenMP thread = 0 - RNG parent see...

Re: Fatal Error in function InSuperCell

I had actually started with 2.1.32, but it was having a different error, one that didn't happen in 2.1.31. I never got around to posting it. Again it's an input I can't share, and the error code was equally cryptic.

Re: Fatal Error in function InSuperCell

It's been several years am seeing a similar error in Serpent 2.1.31. Unfortunately this is an input I cannot share as it is sensitive. The error occurs when I use "set gcu." I have set up virtual universes for calculating cross sections and the case runs fine until I add the set gcu x y z.. specific...

Re: Serpent crash with complex combination of surfaces and cell complements

Yeah, I know - this is not how I would have done it. But in this case it is is more efficient (on my time) to use the MCNP model for the experiment (inside our Serpent-derived TREAT core) than to try to develop the model from scratch.

Re: Serpent crash with complex combination of surfaces and cell complements

The part I gave you was only one of the problematic cells. I had another one, which was even longer when expanded, and a third, that used the complements of the first two. And those were just parts of the full model. I haven't gotten all of the kinks worked out but I am making progress. This is an e...

Re: Serpent crash with complex combination of surfaces and cell complements

Turns out I had to also modify processcomplementcells.c to process the full model. I had to change line 26 to: char *lst, new[100000], word[MAX_STR]; new has the concatenated strings from all of the complement expansions, so when you have 2-3 long expansions (that hit the str limit in readinfix.c ) ...

Re: Serpent crash with complex combination of surfaces and cell complements

Crash: Processing cells... Segmentation fault (core dumped) I had converted all of the # notation to -(all cell surfaces) to test out that theory. Same error. So edits in 'processcomplementcells.c' probably won't help. Based on further investigation I suspect it is a discrepancy in the cell assignme...

Serpent crash with complex combination of surfaces and cell complements

I am converting a complex experiment model from MCNP to Serpent. Not my desired approach but to model the complexity of the experiment and remain consistent with MCNP I need to take this approach. Almost all cells converted cleanly but I have 2 or 3 cells that cause Serpent to crash. The problem lie...
