Initial Heavy Metal Definition

What is serpent's definition of initial heavy metal for the burnup calculation? Is there a cut off atomic mass, such as all nuclides with A greater than a given value? Or is it a small subgroup of select nuclides such as Th230,U235,U238,...ect.?

Thanks!

Re: xsdirconvert.pl issues

I am trying to convert some custom libraries a former student wrote for mcnp into libraries for serpent using xsdirconvert. I am getting an error:

Data type 2 not supported.

This shows up for every nuclide in every library. Does anyone know of a quick way to convert Data type 2 into serpent?

Zed Reflective BC

I am trying to cut down computation time by applying reflective bc on a 1/8 core (cutting it into a quarter pie in the x-y plane, and cutting it in half in the zed direction). When I cut the core the quarter pie and apply reflective bc in only the x and y direction (set bc 2 2 1) the deck runs smoot...

Re: MCNP training_lectures

Thank you Jaakko! Fixing the libraries and physics options did correct most of the problems I was having. There are still a few, more complex inputs which I can't get to agree between serpent and mcnp. Could someone look at this problem and see if I am setting it up correctly in serpent? I am trying...

MCNP training_lectures

There are a set of training lectures from LANL intended for learning mcnp. Has anyone tried to duplicate the examples from these lectures in serpent? I am trying this now and I am struggling to produce similar results with the two codes, even when running simple geometries. Here I have input decks f...

Re: Decay data for Pm-149 missing

Yes. The other libraries have the data for Pm-149 and I can use them to get good results. I just thought it was worth mentioning that it was incomplete in sss_endfb7.dec

Decay data for Pm-149 missing

I have been using serpent 1.1.17 to calculate decay heats for spent fuel and comparing the results for individual isotopes with decay heats from origen. Most of the isotopes produced nearly the exact same decay heat using serpent and origen, however the decay heat for Pm-149 was nearly twice as high...
