Re: Decoding .Precpoints File

Hi, I did this again, and Now I'm getting non-1 values in position 7. Looks like now it's a float between ~2.3E-8 and 8.65. It looks like the same thing happened last time I was working on this. http://ttuki.vtt.fi/serpent/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2535&p=7156&sid=2b2a6974f275927764cfd11e5218ad99&sid=2b2...

Decoding .Precpoints File

Hello, I'm decoding the .Precpoints file. I see from the documentation, each precusor is 72 bytes. The 72 bytes are comprised of 9 doubles. It looks like the first 3 are the XYZ coordinates. position 4 is either a 1 or 0. position 5 and 6 are always 0. position 7 is always 1 position 8 is always 0 p...

Spatial Bin Index

Hello,

In thedocumentation on the .precpoints file, there is mention of a "spatial bin index" indicated by the iSpatial field.

Can anyone provide a description as to what this "spatial bin index" is, and where I can more information of "spatial bins" and how they are used?

XYZ to cell #

Hi

Is there a way that I could get SSS to give me what cell a certain XYZ point is in?

DYN_POP and DYN_PERIOD

Hi,

Any documentation on what DYN_POP and DYN_PERIOD are?

are these my neutron population and reactor periods?

I want to find reactor power as a function of time.

Transient Simulation Systematically Underestimates Keff

Hey, Is anyone else having a problem where transient simulation systematically estimate a k-eff lower than that estimated by a static simulation? two things I've noticed: 1) The degree of underestimation is inversely proportional to the length of the time step. A very short time step (the tmax [last...

Re: pbuf, nbuf, and population control

It is best to think of the nbuf, pbuf and gbuf as being the relative size of the buffers compared to the number of neutrons (or photons) to be simulated per batch: I.e. setting nbuf to 1 and population to "set pop 10000 100 100" would allocate memory for just 10000 neutrons. In reality, with OpenMP...

pbuf, nbuf, and population control

Hello,

What is it that the numerical argument to 'set nbuf' and 'set pbuf' is indicating?

Is this gigs of memory allocated?

Also, are there any mechanisms in place for population control of the neutrons?

Maximums

Is there any information about the maximum size of inputs Serpent is able to handle?

I see that I can only have 10k cells in a single universe.

If I use multiple universes, how large can an input file be? Any restriction on the number of lattices?
