Re: about decstep daystep

As Ana said you should use more steps during the irradiation. You can have a look at this thesis to get some more information on Monte Carlo burnup calculations. Regarding your questions: 1) If you use the same power for all irradiation steps you don't need to have multiple set power cards. 2) With ...

Re: Can I install Serpent 1.1.7 and Serpent 2 on a VM running Linux?

Well, Serpent does not support Windows so in order to run it in Windows you need a VM with Linux and it should work. I do not know how you managed to run Linux through Octave.

Re: New user here: Will codes/programs written from Serpent run in Serpent 2.1.31?

First of all, I presume that you mean Serpent 1 inputs. Secondly, it is impossible to say whether the input will run or not without seeing the actual input. The input syntax for Serpent 2 is the same as for Serpent 1. However, there are some Serpent 1 specific options that have not been implemented ...

Hi! Can you run other mpi executables or does mpirun -np 2 hostname work without problems? It might be that mpicc uses different mpi version than what is used when you run Serpent. mpicc --showme should shows what flags the compiler uses so it might give you a hint at what mpi version is used.

Re: Large volume of water

Hi! In general you should not trust that the code calculates the volumes correctly. You can calculate and define the volumes yourself or use the Monte Carlo volume-checker routine ( set mcvol card or checkvolumes command line option ). More information on defining the volumes is available here . Inc...

Re: Thermal Scattering Data for Molybdenum

Hi! This is not very helpful for you, but I haven't seen an evaluation for molybdenum in either JEFF or ENDF/B. I don't know what's available in the thermal scattering libraries of MCNP6 but you could check that since those should also work with Serpent.
