Re: Detector response

Thanks for your reply Ana, so if I use "dr -55" for example which corresponds to the macroscopic triton production cross section that would solve the problem?

Detector response

Hi, I am working on this design for a neutron detection system that is based on 4 scintillators (with LiF/ZnS material) inside an aluminum cylinder and I am testing the response of the detector by placing it in a water tank with a Cf-252 neutron source at the center (see attached figure), everything...

Out of memory error

Hello everyone, I am simulating a fixed source problem with Serpent and it is working fine, but when i try to increase the nps value in order to obtain better statistics at some point i start getting the following error: Out of memory error (allocating 12.3 Gb, limit 12.3 Gb=0.8*15.4 Gb) I am runnin...

Re: Source energy spectrum

Thank you Ana for your help, so basically i have to manually divide the results that i get from the dn detector by the volume (pi*h*r^2) to get the correct flux value at that (r), is that right?

Re: Source energy spectrum

Hi Jaakko, Thank you very much for all your help and for your quick responses, i have a follow up question: I am trying to obtain the flux profile from a 1 Mev point source in a tank filled with vacuum (very simple), the results that i am getting from Serpent are different from the ones that i get f...

Source energy spectrum

Hello :) How can i define a Californium-252 point source with a spontaneous fission spectrum (a watt spectrum with a=1.18 Mev and b=1.03419 1/Mev )? I do know that Serpent does not have the watt fission spectrum as a built-in option, and that this could be done with the si option in the src card, i ...

Re: Insufficient buffer size

Thanks Jaako! it is indeed the case apparently, when i tried running the code with criticality source mode it worked and the system was critical.

Insufficient buffer size

Hello everyone, i am writing a simple input file for a water tank with an external Cf-252 source in the center and i am interested in getting the thermal flux spectrum along the x-axis at the center, things seem to work fine but when i try to increase the radius of the Californium sphere to any valu...
