There is no programmer's manual or something similar describing the variables/structures/etc. You can track them down to understand their meaning and role within the code.

From your description, you, basically, are shuffling the pebbles by sending those to the outside core region. Basically, the error message indicates that the point is outside the defined region. Check how did you define the mesh for the response matrix solver. You might want to check the detector flagging option, see 'dfl'.
