Re: User contributions to Serpent Manual

Git software may be useful for version tracking/committing etc. http://git-scm.com
The manual sources can be publicly hosted at http://github.com, or one can set up a git server on a machine with restricted access.

Operator nR for repeating the previous item

There is a handy operator in MCNP - nR, which allows to avoid repeating items in lattice definition etc.: for example "1 30r" is equal to "1 1 1 ... 1". It would be nice to have it in Serpent as well, so one could reduce additional scripting.

Re: Feature request: Conversion ratios in output

Well, there is one more CR which can be useful to know: CR of Minor Actinides (namely, Np, Am, Cm, and may be others depending on the definition of MA). --- Also, it would be useful to get information on how much of each HM element was fissioned during reactor operation. This would help in analysis ...

Hi Jaakko, Sorry, I have missed your question. I don't have much experience in compilers, but I know a place where one can find thousands of experts. I have even posted your question (sorry for copyright) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2964667/faster-code-with-another-compiler You can join the c...

Conversion ratios in output

Hi Jaakko and other developers,

Could you add conversion ratios for (1) all fissile nuclides, (2) TRU, and (3) Plutonium (Pu239 and Pu241) in the output file? There is a trend in studying low CR fast reactors where Serpent can get some more fans ;)

Regards,
Andrei

Re: C vs. C++

Jaakko, I don't have experience in optimization of memory allocation, so I cannot argue on this topic. With respect to your knowledge and experience, I can recommend to participate in the following discussion in order to consult a community of experts, who can evaluate both options http://stackoverf...

C vs. C++

Hello Jaakko and Serpent users! It is very good and long waited idea to create forum for Serpent community! Glad that it has been done. To start with, I wanted to ask why is Serpent code written in C language, not C++? Is it just because of performance, or other motivation? For code developing it w...
