Population Nuked / NBUF

I have a Serpent file that models a BWR bundle and run a depletion calculation. I keep getting an error during the running of my inactive cycles. The error says the population was nuked and I need to increase the parameter "nbuf". I have read section 5.2 in the Serpent Manual but still do not unders...

model BWR axial changes in void fraction

I am currently modeling a BWR assembly. I need to model the change in void that occurs axially. I need to use 24 different nodes each with their own density. Is there an efficient way to model this in Serpent? Can I fill my final universe with the assembly lattice, and then fill the area around the ...

Re: Geometry Plotter

Yes I have the problem with all plot files. I have yet to successfully create a plot in Serpent and view it. I have no problems creating the .png file, it just cannot be viewed by my computer or anybody else.

Re: Geometry Plotter

Davide, I am running version 1.1.17 of Serpent. Yes my friend can take my Serpent file (the one I cannot get the .png file to work) and run in on her computer and view the .png. I do not know if we have the same graphics library. Our computers at school are in the same room and I am pretty sure they...

Geometry Plotter

I am plotting my geometry in the xy plane using the line plot 3 5000 5000. However when I try to open the .png file I get an error stating that there was a decode error and the file is invalid. I know the issue is not with my .png file viewer because I have opened and viewed .png files created by an...

BWR Water Rods Geometry

I am modeling GE BWR 10x10 fuel assemblies. These assemblies contain 2 large water rods. How do I include these rods into the fuel assembly lattice? I only need to enter one number in the lattice to represent the water rod, however the large water rod takes the place of 4 fuel rods. Also, the water ...

Re: Serpent Boundary Conditions

Thanks for the help. Could you please show me the lattice you are describing that is bounded by the positive x and y axis? If 0 is the fuel assembly and 1 is the water assembly would it be ones of these lattices? 100000000 100000000 110000000 110000000 111000000 111100000 111110000 111111100 1111111...

Serpent Boundary Conditions

I am trying to model a quarter core for a PWR. I have a lattice constructed of fuel assemblies and water assemblies and they are contained within a square cylinder. I want to have reflective boundary conditions on the positive 'y' and negative 'x' surfaces as these are the locations of the rest of t...
