Re: Infinite tracking loop error associated to photons

The energy is also off-scale (3.5 GeV). Do you have an external source definition? If so, check the units (Serpent uses MeV).

Re: Scale / color distribution of flux mesh plot

At the moment there is no option to output the scale. You can get the numerical values using mesh detectors and plot the same images with Matlab.

Re: Infinite tracking loop error associated to photons

This is most likely related to delta-tracking and high rejection probability in the low-density plasma. There is an option to switch off the error completely:

have you tried that?

Re: generate random particle or pebble bed files for HTGR calc

The random sampling is done in subroutine disperse.c. Implementing a new geometry shape basically requires rejecting positions that are outside or intersect the boundary. The existing options are handled by if-else structures. It should be relatively easy to add new shapes.

Re: Error in Domain Decomposition

The output can be controlled using the set depout option. The default setting is that sub-zone compositions are averaged over each material.

Re: Invalid Universe Name?

The older code version probably doesn't recognize the syntax of the trans card.

Re: Keff v/s Six factor Keff

The six-factor formula is an approximation applied to thermal reactors. I'm not sure how well that works in the fast spectrum.

Re: adjusting heavy water concentration in moderator

The restart files contain the compositions of your burnable materials. There is no need to adjust them when changing the composition of water. You simply stop the burnup calculation at the point where want the change to be applied, make the corresponding adjustment in the input file, and restart the...

Re: Invalid number of lattice elements error

The most common cause for this error is that you have a typo in the input card immediately following the lattice definition. If Serpent cannot identify the card, it is interpreted as a part of the previous card (the lattice).
