Interactive plotter for serpent

Post by C.H.M. Broeders » Sat Jul 23, 2011 1:43 am

Hi all,
I have just downloaded the serpent plotter software of Andrei Fokau and succeeded to produce my first serpent geometry pictures interactively. Here a short summary of my observations, using MANDRIVA 2010.2 LINUX:
1) The used ruby version is quite new; I had to install myself the latest version (no severe problems)
2) The description of the png-viewer to be used as defined in the rb-script is missing
3) The command-line use of the plotter utility is not documented sufficiently
4) After solving these problems, including the cooperation with an existing serpent installation, the result is impressing.
5) Assuming that ruby is a longterm stable project for GPL work like python, perl, ..., being beyond my current level of knowledge, I suggest to support the work of Andrei Fokau to make it a general serpent plotter tool. I am ready to contribute my general LINUX experience, leading to my results.
Best regards,
