Thermal Scattering Data for Molybdenum

Post by snap.2 » Mon May 25, 2020 11:58 am

Hello everyone,

i am using Serpent for my bachelor thesis to simulate, the last yeart tested, Kilopower reactor.
For my calculation i need the thermal scattering data for molybdenum because it is used as the moderator in a HEU solid fuel.
I can not find any data about this. Does anybody have some advice for me?

Thanks for helping.

Hi! This is not very helpful for you, but I haven't seen an evaluation for molybdenum in either JEFF or ENDF/B. I don't know what's available in the thermal scattering libraries of MCNP6 but you could check that since those should also work with Serpent.

Hi, thank you very much for helping! I will check the libraries of MCNP6. If this not work out, do you have an idea what else I can do?

There are ACE format libraries of various ENDF/B evaluations at:

https://www.nndc.bnl.gov/exfor/endf00.jsp

They also include some thermal scattering data.
