ALL geometry in 3D

Post by alexey28 » Wed Sep 30, 2020 11:25 am

Hello all!

Could you give me an example where several 3D models are used simultaneously in one source file?
I would like to make everything just from 3D models.
I found only an example with a rabbit, but there is only one 3D object used.

By models, do you mean solids? There is no difference for Serpent whether the geometry is defined by a single or multiple solids - it does not account for ’gaps’ between them (let’s say, ‘non-connected’ solids); what does not belong to any solid, would be part of the outside world.
Just keep in mind that how the geometry is built might affect the calculation/performance: for which, optimising the STL-geometry might be important (factors such as: pre-defined cells; division of the geometry in multiple levels - nested universes: STL-universe —> own search mesh —> optimal fill fraction; etc.)
More information about solids' definition at: http://serpent.vtt.fi/mediawiki/index.p ... inition.29.
Also, for STL-geometry consistency check, see : http://serpent.vtt.fi/mediawiki/index.p ... geometries.

Thank you for answering. i am considering "bunny" example.
I understood that the key point is to have several elements.

Code: Select all

solid 2 1 2 % type, universe, bacground universe
10 4 5 4 3 2 % search mesh split, depth and sizes
1 1E-5 % ray test, merge radius
body fuel fuel fuel % solid name, cell name, material name
file fuel "bunny.stl.txt" 1.00 0 0 0 % body name, file, scaling factor, origin
could you please tell me how to show several rabbits in the one solid?
could you tell me how to show several rabbits, so that they were in different solids?

It is very important for me, it will help me to make all the elements in such a 3D format.

The basic idea is that it can be defined a single or multiple solids with single or multiple components within. All components, bodies, under the same solid belong to the same universe and share the same search mesh. If multiple bodies are defined, each one is linked to a file, as well as, to a cell and material. (Note. 1. Keep your models water-tight. 2. Optimising this type of geometry might make a huge difference in performance).

Thank you for answering!

But still please help me solve these 2 questions:

i have part of code with one bunny.

Code: Select all

solid 2 1 2 % type, universe, bacground universe
10 4 5 4 3 2 % search mesh split, depth and sizes
1 1E-5 % ray test, merge radius
body fuel fuel fuel % solid name, cell name, material name
file fuel "bunny.stl.txt" 1.00 0 0 0 % body name, file, scaling factor, origin
could you please tell me how to change this code to add several bunnies in the one solid?
could you tell me how to how to change this code to add several bunnies, so that they were in different solids?

when I see the changed code, I will understand how to continue doing my geometry.

Did you try to follow the instructions Ana gave to you (i.e. try something yourself) and did you check the solid card definition from Serpent Wiki?

I found only one example with a rabbit.
Are there any other examples when working with three-dimensional objects?
I tried to figure out for myself the two questions above, but the three-dimensional objects were either not shown or the serpent reported an error
I first tried to make that there was, for example, not one rabbit, but several.
For one example, it is very difficult to understand. I would be very grateful if you could tell me how to change that code. If combine these two questions in 1, please tell me how to change the code to a total of 3 rabbits: 2 rabbits from material 1 and 1 rabbit from material 2?
