Total microscopic scattering matrix for selected isotopes

Post by topefo » Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:05 pm

Dear Serpent2 developers,

I would be interested to get the total microscopic scattering matrix (elastic & inelastic) for some
specific isotopes (92235, 92238 and 1001) by using the "set mdep"-option. However, I cannot find
any appropriate MT number for that, and the total inelastic scattering MT seems to be redundant.

I appreciate any advice and help (workaround) in this regard as I am probably missing something.

Cordially,
Petri

Hello again,

It seems also not possible to get out micro scattering XSs for water for the input below.
I get the following error message:

Input error in parameter "mdep" on line 193 in file "s2-pin-00-base_61grps":

Material water volume is zero

For parameter description, try Serpent Wiki:

Microscopic scattering cross sections are not currently calculated by Serpent. This would require some additional functionality for sampling the scattering reactions.

For all materials in the set mdep card, the material volumes have to be defined.

Many thanks Antti!

Just curious, are you planning to add functionality to get out isotope-wise scattering matrices in the future?

Best regards,
Petri
