Are you sure the calculation was properly finished? Do you see the last burnup point in the output? I tried a similar calculation, only with fewer burnup points, this is what I get:

Code: Select all

 0 : BU = 0.000 MWd/kgu, time = 0.00000E+00 days
 1 : BU = 0.100 MWd/kgu, time = 2.50000E+00 days
 2 : BU = 1.000 MWd/kgu, time = 2.50000E+01 days
 3 : BU = 10.000 MWd/kgu, time = 2.50000E+02 days
 4 : BU = 20.000 MWd/kgu, time = 5.00000E+02 days
 5 : BU = 30.000 MWd/kgu, time = 7.50000E+02 days
 6 : BU = 30.000 MWd/kgu, time = 1.11500E+03 days

I don't have terminal log, but according to output files it seems OK. I will try to rerun the input. It might be connected to using Stochastic Implicit Euler burnnup scheme with the following settings:

Code: Select all

set sie 10
set fsp 1 50
set cpop 10000 500 50 50
set rfw 1

The depletion calculation fails with SIE:
Running burnup calculation:

- Step 33 / 57
- Time interval: 1 years
- Burnup interval: 14.50 MWd/kgU
- Cumulative burn time after step: 3.07 years
- Cumulative burnup after step: 44.50 MWd/kgU
- Decay step, transmutation cross sections not calculated
- Bateman equations solved by linear chains method

Burning 86 materials (CI):

0% complete
6% complete
100% complete

Burning 86 materials:

0% complete
100% complete

Clearing results and statistics...
OK.

Calculating activities...
OK.

***** Sat Mar 31 12:19:17 2018:

- MPI task = 0
- OpenMP thread = 0
- RNG parent seed = 1522437674
- RNG history seed = 5498287770048368170

Fatal error in function DepletionPolyFit:

Corrector step on decay interval

Simulation aborted.
When SIE is not used, the calculation completes correctly and restart from depletion steps is possible.

OK. we'll look into it... Thank you for pointing this out.

Hi,

I also tried to run the example you provided in this link http://serpent.vtt.fi/mediawiki/index.p ... al_example

and whenever I read the binary file I encounter this error:

Processing electron data:

- reading bremsstrahlung cross section data...
- reading ground state configuration data...
- processing input options...
- processing element data...
- processing material data...
- processing TTB data...

***** Mon Apr 2 14:10:57 2018:

- MPI task = 0
- OpenMP thread = 0
- RNG parent seed = 1522681993

Fatal error in function TrapzRealCum:

y is zero (type 5)

Simulation aborted.

I also used the same seed number and still have the same bug, even with different omp.

Any suggestions?

thanks

This is related to photon transport, not burnup calculation. Have you already tried to apply the bug fixes at:
