Hi.

We are running a coupled transient simulation of a molten salt reactor with rectangular shaped fuel channels, like those in the MSRE. We noticed that the Serpent multi-physics interface requires openfoam format mesh definition for non-pin type fuel.

Rather than use the multiphysics interface to send fission power from Serpent to the coupled code, we would like to use detectors, due to their simplicity relative to the openfoam format. The problem with using detectors is that the detector file is not updated by Serpent prior to the sending of SIG_USR1. We suggest that this can be easily fixed by adding DetectorOutput() to iterateexternal.c (we are using version 2.1.29) immediately after the PrintInterfaceOutput() call as follows:

We've made this change and have successfully ran our coupled transient simulations.
