Burnup calculation for Plate Fuel

Post by dacruz » Fri Jul 03, 2015 2:53 pm

Jaakko,

I have been using SERPENT 1.1.19 to model an assembly with plate fuel. According to the latest version of the manual (Jun 18 2015), in page 109 bullet point 4, the code can only handle burnup calculations in cylindrical and spherical material regions. I am doing burn-up of the fuel plates and the results seem to be ok, and SERPENT does not give any error message. Is this burnup option a new feature ?

Cheers,

Dirceu

Serpent can burn any material region, regardless of the shape. The comment is related to the automated sub-zone division, which in Serpent 1 works only for pin and particle geometry types. Also, the volume of arbitrarily shaped materials cannot be calculated automatically, so the user must provide the volume with the "vol" entry in the material card.
